Good Luck Miss Johansson...
Scarlett Johansson joins a bevy of thespian/musicians.

The Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 10 to celebrate the year’s contributions to our culture’s rich musical history. It was an impressive gathering where musicians spanning different generations and genres met in one place. Tony Bennett sized up perky little Hannah Montana, a gaggle of blonde country singers showed up and Tina Turner and Beyonce proved to the world that not only can epilepsy be overcome, but can come in handy during a dance performance. Also Scarlett Johansson was there...
Yes, actress and masturbatory tool Scarlett Johansson used the event to promote her forthcoming CD. With an album that contains one original song, covers ten Tom Waits songs, and whose title comes from a Tom Waits song, one might assume that this attempt at a second career is unique. Scarlett will, however, join a bevy of thespian/musician talents that have come before her:
Patrick Swayze – Not only did he make us feel the pain of a misunderstood, sexy dance god in Dirty Dancing, but also penned and performed “She’s Like the Wind,” which was featured in the film and its soundtrack. The song climbed its way to number 3 on the pop charts. Sadly, we can only dream of collaboration between Swayze and Keanu Reeves in Point Break. What might have been...

Eddie Murphy – Beverly Hills Cop? Meh. Coming to America? Bleh. “Party All the Time?” All-star gold. After trying his hand at comedy and film, Murphy’s career finally saw success when he branched out into the musical arena. Only a true great can record with a legend like Rick James.

Don Johnson – The actor is mostly known for the 2006 WB drama Just Legal, but also starred in Miami Vice and has had sex with Melanie Griffith. When not busy with those accomplishments, Johnson found time to release two albums in the 1980s. His single “Heartbeat” clung to the Billboard charts for ten weeks. Later he dated Barbra Streisand, so she let him sing a duet with her.

John Stamos – General Hospital star. Full House dreamboat. What more can a mortal man do? If that man is Uncle Jesse he can perform and tour with the Beach Boys for a twenty year span. This double threat also managed to cheer up Michelle Tanner with the mere strum of a guitar and his heavenly vocals.

Mr. T – Perhaps most people think of Laurence Tureaud as the gold chain wearing A-Team hero, but he is also one of our generation’s most talent lyrical poets. Mr. T’s first musical venture was a 1984 educational video. Featured in the video was, “Treat Your Mother Right.” This rap is a blend of sight and sound that must be viewed to understand Mr. T’s artistic gifts. He later released a full-length rap album entitled Mr. T’s Commandments.
Our list is noticeably short. Many have tried their hands at singing and acting, but few have reached the recognition of those mentioned here. It takes a special talent to be able to successfully manage two different careers in the entertainment industry. Good luck to Ms. Johansson. She has some mighty big shoes to fill.
